We take your privacy very seriously. Cappl - Screen Recorder & Drawing Tools is designed to run entirely locally in your Chrome browser. We do not gather, store, or transmit any personal data, screen recordings, audio files, or setting preferences to external servers.
2. Data Collection and Usage
This extension operates with a zero-data-collection policy. All actions, drawings, and files are processed strictly on your computer.
Here is how our extension uses the browser permissions we request:
- Screen Recording (Media Stream APIs): Used strictly to capture your designated screen, window, or tab when you click "Start Recording." The recorded video is saved entirely in local browser memory and downloaded directly to your local file system.
- Microphone Audio Access: Used only when you toggle on microphone recording. Audio is merged locally with the video feed and is never recorded or stored separately.
- Storage Permission (chrome.storage.local): Used solely to persist your local drawing toolbar settings (such as selected brush color, brush size, and tool visibility) so they are kept consistent for your next session.
- ActiveTab Permission (chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab): Used to take a static visual capture of the active page to power the screen magnifier lens and screen capture tool upon your direct request.
3. Data Transmission & Security
Since Cappl does not communicate with external APIs, databases, or cloud servers, it is physically impossible for your data to be leaked, shared, or transmitted. Your recordings remain 100% confidential and under your complete control at all times.
